Social Network Marketing for Nonprofits

In my marketing class this semester we were assigned a project to help market a local nonprofit organization through social network. Our client was the Boys and Girls Club of Ridgefield; so far the project has be a success. My group and I have put out client on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The Boys and Girls Club of Ridgefield wanted to increase the amount of people interacting with their organizations on the social networking sites to improve on the organization as a whole.

Recently Dr. Cronin of WestConn asked; do you think your client will continue to use and further develop its social network marketing after your project is done?

I believe the Ridgefield Boys and Girls Club will use their new social network sites after we are done with this project. Their main objective is to continue to upload interesting content to their sites that engages their customers. They hope others will see this content and want to come down and join the club, which would increase or help maintain their clients. They will also use their sites to inform their members and their parents of upcoming events.

Thoughts on RSS Reader and Blogs

I think RSS reader is a really interesting tool that allows the user a lot more flexibility on the internet. It saves time and is easy to sort the material that you are interested in. Also rather than surfing the web non stop for items that you want to read, the RSS reader I use through google bring the information I want directly to me. Another thing i enjoy about the reader is being able to share my subscriptions or browse through the reader for additional links.

For this assignment I searched through blogs to find some related to Social Network Marketing in Nonprofit organizations. There was plenty of information available on the topic, at times overwhelming. Using the Reader by google I was able to sort the material out that I wanted to read, as well as create a whole folder just for this assignment.

For Example the blog "Marketing a Website Through YouTube"  provided information on the usefulness and benefits companies can redeem my advertising on YouTube.  I found this helpful for our upcoming project.

Another Blog titled "6 Tips for Making Content Pop on the Social Web" Will also being of help for our project of Marketing a Nonprofit Organization through social networks. This blog gave ideas on how to make content stand out by still portray quality.

My Life as a Marketing Major

I recently started my senior year of college as a marketing major. Although I am excited to graduate I have a lot of stress when I think of entering the real world. Right now there are not as many jobs available and it is nerve racking that i wont get employed at a job I desire. The classes I am taking right now require a lot of work, but they help prepare me for what I will be doing outside of school. For example in my Advertising class, as well as my Customer Relationship Management class we have the opportunity to work with real organizations as class projects.  I get to work with companies such as The Boys and Girls Club of Rigdefield and United Way organization. Working on these projects are alot of work and time consuming, but i feel they will pay off in the long run. Also it will be good to have additional experiences to add to my resume.

Along with going to school full time I also work part time at a restaurant. I like being able to work and go to school, but i have little free time. I spend alot of late nights studying and doing work for my classes. It gets tiring but it definitely worth the hard work.
